‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 8: The celebration of Deeks, Kensi as a couple

Mrs. Carter: Is there a future for Kensi and Deeks on “NCIS: Los Angeles“?

It feels like the answer to that is a no-brainer: You better believe it! These are two characters who have already shown a deep love and affection for each other, and there is little reason to believe that this is going to end — as a matter of fact, we figure that it will only make itself even more apparent now as we move further into season 8 after everything that the team is going through with the mole. Kensi’s on the verge of dying yet again, but if she makes it past the deadly crisis facing her next week, on the other side of that could be a proper engagement with the man that she loves, and a wedding at some point in the future. Given where we are right now, we’d be shocked if a ceremony happened before season 9, but we hope to see one at some point.

So why are these two characters so great together? We feel like this is something that is reasonably easy to pin down, and there are a few different components to it.

1. Humor – This is a show that can get rather serious from time to time, and as a result of that, you do inevitably crave some people whose responsibility it is to come in and try to lighten the mood. With Deeks and Kensi, you don’t have to worry about them being dull or dry. They make each other laugh, and typically, we’re laughing along with them.

2. A lengthy story – Some of the best TV relationships are with the people who start off as friends and build towards something deeper like we saw on “Castle”. This show took their time allowing us to get to know them, and that’s turned out to be a great move since we understood who they were as people long before they ever ended up becoming a couple.

3. Overcoming obstacles – As we’ve mentioned, we’ve seen them separated by thousands of miles, and in situations where the two of them have nearly died. Yet, through it all they’ve been able to emerge reasonably unscathed; they’ve had their arguments, but those differences could be viewed in some ways as strengths since they’ve helped to make the two of them all the more relatable.
