‘The Bachelorette’: Is the race between Raven Gates, Rachel Lindsay?

We’ve got another episode of “The Bachelor” airing tonight on ABC, and for the sake of this article, we’re going to do our part to look a little bit further ahead towards asking one question: Who could be the next star of “The Bachelorette”!

Based on everything that we’ve seen so far, there are a few different candidates … but two are rising head and shoulders above the rest.

Raven Gates – She’s the perfect choice for the show if they’re looking to do something very similar to everything that they’ve done over the years so far. She’s someone who is extremely likable, comes from the Southern United States (a hotbed for most leads), and she’s got a fashion-forward business that gives her similar interests to many fans of the show. She’s someone the show’s demo relates to heavily, and that’s probably why she is getting the majority of the attention right now as a major candidate to star in the next season.

Rachel Lindsay – Meanwhile, Rachel’s in some ways the opposite. She’s got a job as an attorney that some viewers don’t find as relatable, and she’d be the first black Bachelor or Bachelorette star in history. We do think personally that she’s very interesting and could produce a great season of the show — it’d be nice to have a lead over 30 who knows what she wants and doesn’t take a lot you-know-what from some of the guys who choose to engage in various shenanigans while she is on her road to finding love. Can you imagine her dealing with Chad?

There are some other contenders out there — Kristina has a great story, and Vanessa could easily be a candidate depending on the end of the season. The reality here, though, is that unless you’re in the final four, you probably don’t have a great shot at the leading role. Typically with “The Bachelorette” producers are a little more hesitant to look beyond either hometown dates, or a past contender like Emily Maynard.
