‘Longmire’ season 6: A little more hype before filming begins

Longmire -For those of you who are excited as humanly possible for the upcoming sixth and final season of “Longmire,” trust us when we say that you’re certainly not alone. We’re right there with you, and we’re absolutely eager to see precisely what the writers have in store for us.

Below, what we’ve got for you below (courtesy of the social-media accounts for Lou Diamond Phillips and Katee Sackhoff) is that the cast is descending again on New Mexico in March, roughly the same time in which it did the past two seasons. While we assumed that this would be the case, a little bit of confirmation never hurt anyone! The show will film for several months, and then more than likely premiere once more in the late summer / early fall.

One of the things that we’re the most curious about, at least at present, ties to the notion of the show venturing into uncharted territory. The Craig Johnson books have the ability to go on for a long time, and they don’t have to worry so much about drawing a conclusive “end” to the story of Walt Longmire and many of the other characters. The show now has to present something that serves as a satisfying conclusion to its own story; it does not have to be strictly beholden to anything that is in the source material (there have certainly been plenty of diversions along the way), but we have to figure that the end they come up with will be in the spirit of the books. There are a lot of different possibilities that are sprawled out before them.

While of course we do think that the show could’ve gone on long past season 6, at the same time we’re not ones to be greedy. It’s an amazing achievement that the show got this far, and all of the credit in the world has to go to the viewers for their devotion and constantly support of the show.
