‘The Vampire Diaries’ series finale: Steven R. MrQueen returning as Jeremy
For everyone out there who loves “The Vampire Diaries,” we’re coming to you now with some rather-excellent news: Steven R. McQueen is going to be making his presence felt on the upcoming series finale!
In a post on Instagram, the actor formally confirmed that he will be coming back on board the CW series in the role of Jeremy Gilbert, the part that he played throughout the majority of the show’s run. He left prior to the departure of Nina Dobrev, who played his onscreen sister Elena, and eventually landed a big role over on NBC’s “Chicago Fire” before also departing that show a little bit earlier on this season. He’s someone who is probably capable of leading a show at some point down the road, even if we don’t know when that will be just yet.
One of the fun things about the way in which McQueen was written out of the CW show was that there was always a little bit of room for him to return down the road. Jeremy wasn’t killed off; instead, he merely left, and what we really liked about the way in which that happened was that the exit actually did seem to make a great deal of sense at the time. Why a normal human being want to stay in Mystic Falls forever, given that there were probably some opportunities for them to leave and do some other things elsewhere? This is the question that the show answered with Jeremy, and we have to hope that he’s been rather happy in the time in which he’s been away from the town.
As for why he is back, we do have to hope that this is somehow going to have to do with the potential return of Elena. Dobrev is also returning for the series finale, although it is not clear in what form we will be seeing her.
