ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 6, episode 3 preview: The state of Cyrus Beane
Who knew entering the sixth season of “Scandal” on ABC that we’d get a chance to see such a big showcase for Jeff Perry and his character of Cyrus Beane? This is something that was confirmed largely in the premiere; the moment Frankie Vargas was shot, it was clear that we would get a chance to see how he would handle becoming the next President of the United States — provided of course that this was a gig that eventually fell in his lap.
Odds are, you still have questions coming out of tonight’s episode, and this show luckily seems to be in the mood of giving answers. With that in mind, rest assured that the next new episode “Fates Worse Than Death” will be making things a lot clearer. We will start to understand what Cyrus’ future is, while at the same time Olivia does what she can in order to get answers.
Synopsis – “In the midst of a national crisis, Cyrus’s fate is sealed. Meanwhile, Olivia and the gladiators will stop at nothing to get to the truth.”
If there is one obvious thing that Cyrus SHOULD be worried about, it’s the presence of Olivia in and around his life given that she’s one of the few people with the capacity to take him down a notch. Even if he’s not guilty for whatever reason, he’s still going to be facing a problem here.
Also, we wonder precisely what the emotional ramifications are going to be for Olivia and some of the other people that are in her life. Is she going to be so intent on her definition of truth that she pushes everyone away? Or, what happens if she really was right all along?
Promo – Is Olivia trying to “steal” the Presidency from Cyrus? If you love a good old-fashioned conspiracy theory, then this one has to be ranked high on the list. We know that she’s desperate, but could she really fabricate this much evidence in order to win?

Interesting conspiracy theory, but the only way Olivia could be fabricating evidence is if she somehow inserted that clip of Cyrus and Vargas arguing for Huck to find, which does not make sense because Huck is her guy and as far as we know she still trusts him. What is odd, though, is that she has known about Harrisburg all along (I am thinking that may be what Cyrus and Vargas are arguing about), but as far as we know she has not told the president about that. You would think she would have as part of her case against Cyrus.
