‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 18, episode 9 preview: ‘Decline and Fall’ and stopping a billionaire
Is there anyone out there who is truly above the law? Over the course of its run on TV, we have seen “Law & Order: SVU” come up with some different permutations and ways in which to examine this story closer. This is something that they are going to continue further going into “Decline and Fall,” which is the new episode of the show airing in one week’s time.
As for what you can expect from the story, it revolves around a famous family who finds themselves in some hot water based on the actions of one of their own.
Synopsis – “The powerful family of a retail empire closes ranks when a bartender accuses one of their own of rape.”
We’re sure that there are some out there who are going to want to draw immediate comparisons between this family and the Trumps (after all, they’re a famous family with a ton of headlines around them), but we don’t get the sense that this is necessarily based on any one family. Sure, the idea of a powerful retail family makes us think of one particular group in particular, but we think this episode is looking at matters in a more hypothetical sense as opposed to looking at things that may have actually happened.
Given that there is not too much more information out there about this episode in advance, we’re going to have to wait until the promo arrives to get a little bit more in the way of insight.
Promo – After watching this, it feels almost as though the powerful billionaire at the center of the case has more in common with Bill Cosby, as he is accused of drugging a wide array of women over the course of time before doing unspeakable things. This still does not offer up too much in the way of insight beyond the case, but given that this man considers himself to see a god, it is hopefully going to be all the more rewarding if Benson and the SVU team can find a way to take him down.
