‘Bright Lights’ trailer: First extended look at HBO’s Carrie Fisher – Debbie Reynolds documentary

HBO -

Long before the terrible deaths of Debbie Reynolds and her famous daughter Carrie Fisher over the course of the Christmas holiday, there were still plans for HBO to air “Bright Lights.” This documentary captured the lives of these two legendary entertainers, and the unique relationship that they had. They lived still super-close to each other, and in some ways probably knew one another just as well as they knew themselves.

Following the news of the actresses’ passing, HBO opted to move up the premiere date of the special to Saturday night, and you can now check out the first trailer for “Bright Lights” below.

We will not deny that there is a certain quality of watching this that feels eerie. After all, you are watching two people whose deaths still feel so raw, and in this trailer they are so full of life … even if they do talk about subjects such as getting older and starting to lose their memories. Yet, at the same time there is so much humor here as the two women bicker, care for each other, and continue to live out their careers.

For people who do choose to watch the documentary, we have a feeling that are going to be many moments where you want to get out the tissues for your eyes. It’s going to be painful at times thinking how these two wonderful performers our no longer with us. Yet, at the same time perhaps there is no better tribute out there to the women that they were, and we’re not just talking about their work onscreen and behind the scenes. They clearly each had many people around them who loved them, and will miss them immensely now that they are gone.
