‘Chicago Fire’ season 5, episode 9 video: The search for Severide
After a holiday hiatus that probably felt almost never-ending to some people out there, the good news is that “Chicago Fire” will be returning to NBC with new episodes on Tuesday. It’s also going to try to make up for that hiatus with something special.
You’re set to get a two-part crossover event Tuesday that starts with “Fire” at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and the sneak peek below makes it clear that Taylor Kinney’s character of Severide is in some enormous trouble. The Fire team arrives at the scene of a violent car accident, one that could involved injuries or so much worse, and they quickly realize that one of the two cars involved belongs to Kelly. However, Kelly’s nowhere to be found.
There’s no obvious answer to this question that we can offer to you without giving too much away, but the promos for this episode have already disclosed that Severide’s going to find himself arrested at some point. Therefore, it’s safe to say that this accident is the source of that. What actually happened, as opposed to what he is accused of doing, should be the sticking point of the case. There’ll be some real stakes here, and for Kinney, some of the strongest material he’s had on the show in a rather-long time.
Following this two-part event, “Chicago Fire” will move back to its standard 10:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot the following week, as “This Is Us” will be returning and the schedule will have a little more normalcy … at least for now. We’ll see if there are some other crossovers down the road.
What do you think happened with the accident? Share in the comments below, and be sure to head over here if you’re interested in seeing a sneak peek that is about the “Chicago PD” side of the crossover right now.
Also, come back on Monday for an exclusive interview featuring the shows’ executive producers. (Photo: NBC.)
