‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: Grodd will return in 2017
While we’re not entirely sure that there was ever any doubt that we’d be seeing more of Gorilla Grodd on “The Flash” moving forward, isn’t it nice to have a little bit of confirmation? We certainly think so!
If you look below, you can see actor David Sobolov (who voices the character) confirm that Grodd is going to be coming back in the new year. He doesn’t say in particular that it will be during season 3, but judging from the fact that nobody is really working on season 4 just yet, it feels fair to assume that this appearance will be coming before May.
When Grodd does turn back up, we have to assume that the character is going to be far more dangerous and powerful than when we last saw him. In an effort to free themselves of the character, the STAR Labs team sent him to another world in his last appearance — one that just so happens to be Gorilla City. There, Grodd could hone his abilities and become even more of an intellectual threat. His status as a physical one is certainly clear already.
Grodd remains one of the most challenging villains for the show to pull off, largely because he is a CGI creation that real actors are having to face off against. Also, we’re sure that a larger-than-average gorilla with mind-control powers is not necessarily the easiest thing in the world to portray on television; yet, the creativity that goes into this particular role is one of the reasons why it’s so exciting that we have him. It’s also one of the reasons why “The Flash” as a series is so beloved — it feels authentic.
