‘The X Factor’ alum Camila Cabello fires back at latest Fifth Harmony exit statement
Are the women in Fifth Harmony in charge of their own social-media account? What we’re seeing today by and large is a bizarre turn of events that makes you question a lot of things about the recording business, life after singing shows, and so much more.
Let’s start with the news that we know: Late last night, the official account for the band, who first got together on “The X Factor” here in America, announced that Camila Cabello was leaving the group; not only that, but they claimed that this announcement was made via her representatives, which was really strange given the fact that she knows that other members of the group and could just give them a call.
What’s made all of this even weirder is that apparently, the group’s social media made this decision almost as a blindside move, and that it was not exactly accurate in the slightest. As a part of a full statement Cabello posted on Instagram, she made it clear that the other group members knew of her plans to leave for a long time:
“I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing … The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during our tour. Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was ‘leaving the group’ is simply not true. Just like the other girls said in their statement about their plans, I did not intend to end things with Fifth Harmony this way. As sad as it is to see this chapter ending this way, I will continue to root them all on as individuals and as a group, I wish nothing but the best for them, all the success in the world and true happiness.”
We don’t know what exactly happened behind the scenes with any of the band’s members, but we do think that this particular situation as a whole is a further reminder that sometimes, getting instant fame and a bunch of people around you trying to handle your business can make things messy. The crazy thing here is that Cabello is just 19, and is technically still a teenager. “The X Factor” seems like ages ago, and all of the confusion definitely speaks to a little too much corporate messiness.
Hopefully, the group can find a way to establish a little more equilibrium and peace among themselves sooner rather than later.
