‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: What Is Mon-El hiding?

Secrets have become a significant part of the “Supergirl” universe to date — everyone’s had them at one point or another. Kara’s got a secret identity, Alex had the DEO and for a time her sexuality, and James Olsen has his new alter-ego of Guardian. Now, we’ve learned that Mon-El is hiding a certain something of his own, and that it may be tied to why there are mystery characters hunting him down at the moment.

What could he be hiding? That’s not entirely clear at the moment, but we do have the following quote from executive producer Andre Kreisberg to Entertainment Weekly, which does offer up a little bit more evidence that whatever is happening with this character is going to play a big part in the story, and when Kara does find out, it could cause some problems in whatever relationship they have:

“Secrets are never healthy in a relationship and obviously Mon-El is holding onto something … We got a little taste that his life on Daxam might not be as over as we think from the glimpse of the space farers, who are on the hunt for him. So it will definitely play a big part in their relationship moving forward.”

We are rather hopeful for the most part that this story will remain exciting just because the Mon-El character is such a different force than anyone that we’ve seen on the show so far over the course of the run. He operates by his own agenda, and much of that is to not embrace his powers and try to find some element of normalcy. If he is hiding something, maybe much of it stems from a sentiment that back on Daxam, he may not have been able to live so much in the shadows.
