‘The X Factor’ UK: See Matt Terry’s music video for ‘When Christmas Comes Around’
Over the course of this past weekend, Matt Terry was declared the winner of “The X Factor,” and as a result of that, he had an opportunity to perform his brand-new winner’s single “When Christmas Comes Around,” as penned by Ed Sheeran. It’s a bright, cheery song for the holidays, and it’s one of the contenders for the famed Christmas #1 in the UK. Unfortunately, this year there’s some pretty substantial competition, especially from former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson.
At least we do have something new out there featuring Matt: The brand-new music video for the song! You can see this below, and it is very much the sort of thing that you’d love to see this time of year: Families helping each other, and of course the wintry backdrop of his performance this past weekend.
Just in case you’re wondering why there is not much in the way of new footage in here of Matt, the simplest answer to that is merely that there wasn’t a whole lot of time between the end of the show and the release of this video. There’s never a lot of extra footage in these music videos, and much of that is instead saved for the first single after the fact. While there’s never any guarantee that a winner will be sticking around in the public consciousness for long, they are always going to get another chance to succeed after the show with a single or two.
For the next couple of weeks, though, we imagine Matt getting a chance to unwind and relax a little bit — he certainly does need it given everything that he’s had going on over the course of his life the past few months. Early next year the tour will begin, and the work on the new album will probably happen either concurrently or at some point following the conclusion of that.
