‘America’s Got Talent’ winner Grace VanderWaal performs ‘I Don’t Know My Name’ on ‘Today’
We’ve been critical at times of “America’s Got Talent” for not doing a lot with some of their winners, and we do understand a little bit of why that is when you stop to think about it. Not all of them are easy to market, or easy to monetize in a way beyond Las Vegas shows. Even some of the winners who do earn a ton of money, including Terry Fator and Paul Zerdin, do so without a flurry of press coming their way.
Luckily, the show and NBC do seem to be doing very right still by their reigning champ in Grace VanderWaal, given that she performed on “The Today Show” this morning, a mere matter of days after also appearing during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The song she performs in the video below is “I Don’t Know My Name,” her most-famous song that she auditioned with for the show. One of the things that is exciting about her, and also a testament to her own ability as a songwriter, is that the label is using her own music in order to better launch a recording career.
The performance below is certainly a good one, and before that you do get a little interview featuring her.
So what’s next for Grace? She’ll be performing once again on NBC next month for the “America’s Got Talent” holiday special, an event that’s being done for the first time where she and many other acts from the show are going to have an opportunity to hit the stage and perform without the pressure of votes or eliminations. It should be rather fun, and that’s something that you can read a little bit more about over at the link here.
