‘Bull’ spoilers: Home is where the heart is
For much of “Bull” season 1, we’ve found ourselves hoping and clamoring to see more of the show’s heart and soul. After all, why not provide us with an opportunity to see more of who Dr. Jason Bull really is under all of the intelligence and ability at his job? We know that he’s better than almost anyone in the realm of jury science; moving forward, we have a better opportunity to learn more about what led him to this point.
To a certain extent, you may have an opportunity to learn much of this on the upcoming December 13 episode of the show entitled “Light My Fire.” What we know about this is very simple: Michael Weatherly’s character is going to visit his childhood home, and over the course of episode will be working on an arson defense for a man whose history really is not all that different from his own.
While we’ve got to see the entire episode play out in order to see the full scope of the story, for the time being there is a certain part of this that feels very much like a Robert Frost poem. They had two roads, and they each opted to take a different one. Maybe Bull’s on the road not taken, and that’s why so few people end up getting to become the person who he now is.
Regardless of how this episode ends, it could be precisely the one we need from this show as we start to move into the new year and see more episodes and stories play out. One of the biggest gaping holes right now in “Bull” as a series is that it needs that sort of deeper connection. The cases may be exciting, but every show has dimensions and it’s time to open this one up even more.
