Is ‘Empire’ season 3, episode 7 new tonight on Fox? Flashing back and looking ahead

So far, “Empire” season 3 is almost akin to being stuck in traffic. Every few minutes, you get a chance to move forward a little bit, but then things get jammed up again and you’re forced to wait in frustration.

Basically, we went several weeks with this show off of the air due to the World Series and at one point a Presidential Debate. From there, we finally got the show back on the air again … and now we’re stuck in the midst of yet another hiatus. What’s happening here is pretty simple to describe in that it’s the day before Thanksgiving, and understandably, nobody really wants to deal with the competition that is the day before Thanksgiving with all of the traveling that is going down … plus people who are already in the kitchen trying to make the best meal possible for their friends and family.

Are there a ton of people out there who’ve got DVR’s? Absolutely, but it’d be a mistake to go ahead and assume that everyone does when that’s simply not the case.

We do think that the show is planning enough super-interesting stuff to make this lengthy wait worth it, and some of that begins with getting to dive further into Lucious and Cookie’s past. As the video below for the final episodes of the year reveals, we will be flashing back further in hopes of trying to understand one of television’s most complicated relationships. we’re talking here about someone in Lucious whose history of alternating loyalty and abuse has created a vortex all around him where characters cannot find a way to escape. Cookie now has that courtesy of Angelo, but can she really put much of that past behind her and focus on the future, without judgment or fear of whatever her past could bring?
