‘The Flash’ season 3, episode 8 preview: It’s crossover time for Grant Gustin, cast in ‘Invasion!’
There are times when we use these “The Flash” preview pieces to really give you a wide array of speculation as to what could be coming up on a given episode of the show, but it’s a little bit different in this instance. We’ve been hearing about this crossover for over a month featuring all of the other shows in the CW universe — “Supergirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Arrow.” It’s really just time to get there at this point.
What is important about this episode is that in some ways, this is the real beginning of the event. While technically you’ll see some of it on “Supergirl” courtesy of Barry Allen traveling over to National City with Cisco Ramon, we do think that the meat of the story is going to be present on the other three shows. “Supergirl” has some other things to attend to for most of the episode, and it’s harder to bring many of those characters over to these other shows.
Synopsis – “When aliens called the Dominators attack Central City, Barry (Grant Gustin) speeds over to Star City to ask the Green Arrow (guest star Stephen Amell) for help in stopping them. Realizing the battle against the Dominators is bigger than they thought, they track down the Legends of Tomorrow, and Barry and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) create a breach to bring back a secret weapon – Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist). Once all of the super friends are assembled, they come up with a plan to attack but a shocking secret related to Flashpoint is revealed and suddenly no one is sure who they can trust. Meanwhile, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) wants to join the battle against the aliens but Iris (Candice Patton) tells him he’s not ready.”
It’s make one thing clear: We love “The Flash,” and we also love the vast majority of the storylines that they come up with. Yet, at the same time, we gotta admit that there is a significant part of us that will be more than thrilled to never have to see storylines about characters being “not ready” for fighting ever again. We had it with Jesse Quick, now we’re getting it with Wally West.
