‘Empire’ season 3 signs up Nia Long for guest spot
The third season of “Empire” is set to continue airing new episodes on Fox Wednesday night, and for the sake of this article, we are once again touching on a familiar subject: Guest casting!
Per a report from Deadline, Nia Long (“Uncle Buck,” “Third Watch”) is set to recur in the role of Giuliana, a club owner in Las Vegas who wants to do her part to secure a deal with Empire. It’s fairly easy to understand why: If she is wanting to get more attention to her particular establishment, wouldn’t you want to be working alongside some of the best in the business? To us, this simply falls into the category of “things that make sense.”
Unfortunately, what Giuliana probably doesn’t realize is that in negotiating to make this particular deal happen, she’s going to be on a collision course with one of the best in the business in Cookie Lyon. The two are going to clash, but the finer details on said clash are not currently clear.
One thing in general terms that could prove rather interesting about this casting is that it should offer us up a prime opportunity to see something we’ve been hoping for as of late, and that is a chance to see Cookie back doing mostly workplace-related matters. As much as we enjoy the story of her and Angelo’s relationship, we know Cookie rather well at this point, which in the process translates to mean that we have a tendency to know more about how she operates and excels. She needs this sort of balance in order to truly thrive as a character.
