‘Scorpion’ season 3, episode 8 video: Sylvester prepares to meet Walter, Megan’s family

Monday night’s new episode of “Scorpion” is entitled “Sly and the Family Stone,” and we expect that this one is going to be a mixture of a wide array of different things.

From one vantage point, we imagine that this is going to be a fairly fun hour of TV. After all, we’re heading across the pond to Ireland, Walter’s home and where the majority of his family is located. There are chances to see some of these fish out of water, and that’s always fun given that they are all such socially-awkward people to begin with.

In going beyond this, though, there is a very serious direction that we could see this episode graveling down, mostly because of the sole fact that the main purpose of the trip is to commemorate it being a year since the death of Walter’s sister Megan. This marks a chance to connect further with family, and for Sylvester to meet people who are technically in-laws after he and Megan were married prior to her death. He takes that responsibility seriously, and the sneak peek below shows him trying to memorize everyone’s names before taking the trip. The unfortunate thing about that is that we don’t exactly see Walter being anywhere near as accommodating in terms of handing down information. He’s distant from his family, much in the way that he is distant from many people. He’s also in America now for a reason.

When you factor in everything from emotion to prospects of seeing something new and original, we’re probably more excited about this episode of the show than any other this season. We’ll be getting a chance to dive into some meaty material, and because we’ve already come to care about these people so much, every moment from here on out will be all the more worthwhile.
