‘Poldark’ season 3: Premiere date hopes for Aidan Turner – Eleanor Tomlinson series

PoldarkTonight, we’re going to have a chance in a mere matter of hours to witness the end of “Poldark” on The BBC as we know it — at least for the year. The title character (played by Aidan Turner) has to figure out what he wants out of his future, and if there is any redemption that could be coming his way in terms of his relationship with Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson). At the same time, there are further complications that arise across the board when it comes to Elizabeth (Heida Reed), who has been at the center of a love triangle of sorts over the past several episodes.

We expect it to be a dramatic, action-packed, and potentially devastating hour of television. You can view teasers for the finale over here, and we may have a review for the episode up at that same link in a matter of hours. Update: Said finale review is online here!

For now, let’s look more towards the future of the series, specifically in terms of when the show could end up returning to the air in Great Britain. (As a reminder, it’s still airing on PBS in the United States.) The series was renewed for a third season / series earlier this year, even before season 2 first premiered. Therefore, there was never any cause for concern about the future. With the depth of source material out there, the show could sustain itself for many more years to come.

Filming is underway underway on the new batch of episodes, as well, and we firmly expect that new episodes will return at some point in the fall. For most of the past several months, we’ve firmly advocated the show and “Victoria” working out a better arrangement so that one would not lose viewers to the other; however, after seeing the “Poldark” ratings fail to rise much even after “Victoria” ended, we don’t think it matters as much as we originally assumed. Therefore, we don’t quite care when the show airs provided that it does.

For now, it seems that “Poldark” prefers this ten-episode model over doing eight and a Christmas Special, which is something that we’ve seen from shows like “Downton Abbey” or “Call the Midwife.” We will see if that changes in the future. (Photo: BBC.)
