‘Girl Meets World’ season 3, episode 17 video: The gang goes Hollywood
Fame can be a powerful thing. There are times in which it can be used for good, but also times in which it can be devastating. The attention can cause you to think outside of yourself and completely distort the perception of what it is that people actually like about you.
In some ways, you can argue that the next new episode of “Girl Meets World” entitled “Girl Meets Hollyworld” could be a little bit of art imitating life. The stars of this show are, for the most part, actors who really got their start through either this show or the original. They found fame at an early age, and had to wrestle with how to deal with it. It’s impossible to think that they were constantly the picture-perfect example of a role model; everyone makes mistakes. The real test is how you bounce back from some of those mistakes, and whether or not you’ve got the right people around you to keep yourself from getting too big of a head.
Luckily, most of the stars of this show have done a good job using their powers — and their fame — for good rather than evil.
The promo below for this episode sets up how these characters, much like the actors who play them, could find fast fame thanks to a project seemingly based on their world and their lives. However, some hilarity here could ensue in that Riley doesn’t seem to be able to pass an audition in order to play a version of herself. Meanwhile, Lucas seems to be one of the people who has the sudden fame get to him more than others, surprisingly. Within the span of this promo he manages to go from Texas to Danny Zuko.
There’ll probably be some lessons in here about staying true to oneself and not letting fake overtake you, but beyond that, we just think this will be fun. Following the super-serious “Girl Meets Her Monster” episode from last night, we do think that’s especially important for restoring the show’s balance. (Photo: Disney Channel.)
