Is ‘Designated Survivor’ episode 7 new tonight? Behind ‘The Traitor’
The past few weeks on “Designated Survivor” have slowly and ever-so-surely brought us into the world of President Kirkman, and it’s shown itself to be an incredibly complicated one. It’s a show that is giving you everything from terrorist threats to media scrutiny to of course overthrow attempts. Who knows? Maybe this world is as authentic as it comes in terms of showing you what this situation would be like; ultimately, it’s rather hard to say mostly because of the fact that we’ve never been there. Let’s be thankful for that.
Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait another week to see how the remainder of this story is going to play out … and ironically, this is the one primetime preemption tonight that may not have to do with the World Series. The CMA Awards, for some ridiculous reason, were scheduled for tonight a long time ago. Obviously, someone hoped that they were not going to run up against the biggest night in baseball, but that didn’t happen. Odds are, baseball will eat country music alive.
Anyhow, the CMA Awards are a good excuse for “Designated Survivor” to not air, mostly because it spares them the World Series preemption that would’ve inevitably happened, anyway. It’s for the best with this show, since you don’t want to see the ratings for the show sink into the nearest pit because of competition. It may have a full season, but season 2 is not assured for the time being.
What we do want to offer you while you wait is some of the first details from the November 16 episode “The Traitor,” which is going to feature a hostage crisis at the center of the story:
“When an American track-and-field coach heads to Russia, President Kirkman is thrust into a hostage exchange involving the CIA and the Russian government. Meanwhile, Agent Hannah Wells and Deputy Director Atwood’s investigation into the Capitol bombing uncovers information that puts Atwood and his family’s life at risk.”
