NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Aaron Gibson, Josh Halverson, Darby Walker, more in final Knockout Rounds show

Tonight, “The Voice” is bringing you the last night of the Knockout Rounds, so here’s to hoping that there are a lot of super-fun performances that we get to see over the course of the action. We know that several of the best singers of the season are still out there.

We will be updating the night with our quick-takes on some of the performances, so be sure to stay tuned for more over the course of the show.

Austin Allsup vs. Gabe Broussard, Team Blake – Gabe’s a pretty good singer. The biggest issue that he ran into in this showdown was one outside of his control: Austin’s just way too talented and seasoned a performance. We don’t think that Blake is favoring him intentionally, but having that history with him does ensure even more that the two have a natural connection working together. Austin wins.

Darby Walker vs. Maye Thomas, Team Miley – The show so far isn’t exactly killing it in the predictability department so far, given how easy it was to assume here that the winner was going to be Darby. Maye hasn’t been featured the same way, and Darby just has SO much going for her in between her style, the tone of her voice, and having a natural bond with her coach. She’s one of our favorites to win right now. Darby wins.

Brendan Fletcher vs. Nolan Neal, Team Adam – We do think that this was the closest showdown by far tonight by a good mile. The different to us really came down to song choice. Brendan picked something that allowed him to come across as more in control during the performance, and that paid off in a really big way. Brendan wins.

Michael Sanchez vs. Sa’Rayah, Team Alicia – This was a showdown that was previewed in many places before we even got around to this episode airing, and for the most part, we felt like the winning artist was pretty clear: Michael. So when Sa’Rayah was declared the winner and he wasn’t stolen, we consider these to be in part the two biggest surprises of the Knockouts. Sa’Rayah wins.

Dana Harper vs. Karlee Metzger, Team Blake – This one was probably a surprise in its own right, mostly because we’ve been thinking that Karlee had the trajectory to make it all the way to the live shows. After the performances, though, we can’t quite quibble with this. Dana wins.

Aaron Gibson vs. Josh Halverson, Team Miley – The final performances of the Knockout Rounds. Also, the most predictable just given the hype around Aaron, and the fact that Alicia still had another steal that she had to use in the competition. Both guys are moving on, and we suppose in the end that this is the most important thing. Aaron wins, Josh is stolen.
