Ratings: ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ returns low; praise for ‘Supernatural’ season 12
The ratings for Thursday night are in, and while it may seem strange to start with a show in “Supernatural” that stayed fairly steady versus its prior premiere with a 0.8 in the 18-49 demographic, we’re doing it anyway.
Basically, the main reason for the spotlight is fairly simple: We gotta give the show some mad props for consistency these days, and the Jared Padalecki – Jensen Ackles series delivers. Think of it this way: It hasn’t been a great fall for The CW so far. The majority of their shows have returned down over 10% versus their prior seasons, and “Supernatural” was down under 7%. This is when you also factor in there a move to Thursday night, the show being in its 12th season, and it having a weaker lead-in courtesy of “Legends of Tomorrow.” This week, “Supernatural” is The CW’s #3 show behind only “Supergirl” and “The Flash.” Pretty darn fantastic if you ask us.
Now, let’s get to everything else on the day.
The good news – “Chicago Med” (1.3) was pretty much even with its most-recent new episode … and that’s about it. Seriously. Not a great night for TV. Thursday nights seriously need a hit show.
The bad news – Let’s go back now to “Legends of Tomorrow,” which premiered to just a 0.6. That’s down huge from the show’s season 1 premiere numbers; it may not be off too much from where “Arrow” is at present, but if it’s drawing this for the premiere, we wouldn’t be shocked to see it at a 0.5 next week.
There were many series low ratings out there last night, in between “Pitch” (0.8), “How to Get Away with Murder” (1.1), and “Notorious” (0.9). “Grey’s Anatomy” was the top scripted show on the night with a 2.1 rating, but even it was down. “Rosewood” was down to a 0.8, but we actually saw it perform worse weeks ago.
