‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 4: Premiere date speculation; series finale likely coming in 2017
Tuesday night, the beginning of the end will arrive for “Halt and Catch Fire” on AMC. After all, this marks the end of season 3, and we now know that there is only one more batch episodes still to come.
Granted, we are feeling happier now regarding the show’s future than we were a good 24 hours ago, when it was unclear if the network would renew the show at a ll. The final season order is a gift to the fans, who have stuck with this show despite low ratings, and this year airing during a different day of the week. We said this last night when the renewal was officially announced, but it bears repeating: Thanks to AMC for sticking with the show when other networks may not. This further proves their commitment to quality, and allowing their products to come to a conclusion on their own terms, at least within reason. It’s better than getting an outright cancellation.
As for when you can expect to see this final season come on the air, for the time being we’re looking mostly towards 2017 given that there is typically only one year between seasons and there’s virtually zero reason for the network to change that up unless there are some commitments elsewhere.
Given that this is the final season, it doesn’t really matter as much what night the network decides to air it in, given that ratings are slightly more irrelevant — even if we do want to see it do well. The Tuesday spot does work out fairly well given that there is not extreme competition most weeks, but we also wouldn’t be made if they moved it to the old “Hell on Wheels” spot Saturday nights. We recognize, though, that we may be in the minority on that.
