‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 3 finale spoilers: Donna prepares for the future; is it the right one?
For most of this season, “Halt and Catch Fire” has delivered consistently compelling drama, and raised questions about safety in the age of burgeoning technology. How much can one accomplish with these tools, and what happens when they become the Wild West? These are questions that should be asked, and they are certainly things that Ryan Ray demonstrated — at least before he ended his own life in one of the most tragic moments of the series.
In the final two episodes of the season airing next week, we’re going to see what are the next steps, and whether Donna really has the right plan in place to bring that to the masses. In the process. however, she may realize that finding unity within Mutiny (isn’t that fun to say?) is almost impossible.
What we can offer you, per TV Guide, are some of the first details now on these final installments of the year.
“NIM” – “Donna envisions a new future for the Internet and attempts to bring everyone together at Comdex. Meanwhile, Gordon takes on a strong-willed Joanie.”
“NeXT” – “In the third-season finale, Donna’s vision creates a spirited discussion about the next big thing and how to achieve it, but the end result may not make everyone happy.”
One of the other questions you should be really asking right now is whether or not these could be the final episodes of the series. Season 3 is down more than 30% in total viewers, and is averaging just over a 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. While we’d love to see it continue, our fear is that the audience just isn’t there and the network has given it chances.
