‘The Flash’ season 3, episode 2 preview: Tom Felton arrives; Emily Bett Rickards crosses over
Tonight, “The Flash” is premiering with the first episode of season 3, and it’s our hope that over the course of the remainder of the season, we’ll see further reminders that the Flashpoint Paradox matters. Since this show exists within a shared universe, it’s hard to put Barry Allen in a different world forever, especially since it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense if he stayed there while some other shows are premiering.
Therefore, next week’s “Paradox” could be moving forward following Flashpoint, and as a result of that he’ll have a chance to see some of what it wrought. The synopsis below offers up a perfectly good example of what you can expect to see:
“Barry (Grant Gustin) realizes the effects from Flashpoint are much greater than he thought. Meanwhile, Barry meets new co-worker Julian (Tom Felton) and is surprised by Julian’s immediate disdain for Barry.”
Our hope for Felton’s character is that he is intimately involved in the remainder of the season, and he ends up playing a far greater role than just Barry’s rival at work. Could he be Dr. Alchemy, Savitar, or some other villain? That remains to be seen, but we certainly hope so given neither one of those characters has yet be technically cast. (We did get a little bit of a Dr. Alchemy tease at the end of the episode, and that certainly proved to be exciting.)
The promo below also teases the return of Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, which will hopefully help to resolve one of the biggest shockers of the premiere: Flashpoint changing the Iris / Joe dynamic in a big way.
