‘Big Brother OTT’ spoilers: About the ‘BB Bug’ Head of Household Competition

Shane -We’ve certainly seen some signs that CBS All Access is really going low-budget for “Big Brother: Over the Top,” whether it be the way the houseguests all entered to not having a jury house at any point to seeing the drop in prize money down to $250,000.

One way that the show seems to be specifically saving some money is in the competition budget, which makes some sense given it’s hard to show the introductions to some of those competitions on the feeds. The first Head of Household comp this season is pretty easy to explain, and it may not have cost production in the process more than just a few bucks. There was a potion delivered to the house, with the label on it reading that only one person could drink it. Shane did, and in the process learned that he is “infected” and cannot be HoH. Over the course of the next 24 hours an alarm will sound, and in that time the most-recently infected person will infect someone else. The last person standing has the power for the week. There’s a lot of strategy that is at play here, and it’s a little early to tell precisely what’s going to be going down.

So far, Shane has eliminated Danielle, and she then eliminated Justin after he volunteered. This is one of the cheapest competitions known to mankind, but what we do like about it is that it completely does test social dynamics. One person will be evicted, and it could be someone who passed on the power.

One other interesting unrelated rule that we want to point out here is that there is a requirement that houseguests are awake from 10:00 a.m. Big Brother Time until 10:00 p.m., which should be interesting in that there are typically a wide array of people every season why spend about three or four hours standing up.
