‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: More on ‘The Recruits,’ and the struggles ahead
We’ve heard time and time again now that “Arrow” season 5 is going to start off with seeing Oliver Queen in training mode, at least when it comes to getting some newcomers on his side in the battle to protect Star City. With Oliver Queen serving as Mayor and with John Diggle missing in action in the early going, it certainly feels clear that he will need some help.
With this in mind, the upcoming October 12 episode entitled “The Recruits” is going to focus in part on him narrowing down his team and preparing for the future. As a matter of fact, the official synopsis below via The CW confirms that, while also making it clear that there are many bumps in the road coming up:
“Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) new recruits for Team Arrow are Curtis (Echo Kellum), Wild Dog (guest star Rick Gonzalez) and Evelyn Sharp (guest star Madison McLaughlin). Unfortunately, the Green Arrow’s training methods prove to be too much for some of them to handle. Meanwhile, in the flashbacks, Oliver’s initiation into the Bratva continues.”
On the surface, seeing Curtis Holt go through training is easily going to be the most interesting storyline of these just because he’s someone we already know, and also someone we don’t always think of as a physical presence first and foremost. Yet, he is a track athlete, so he does possess at least some strength that he could bring out into the field. The question is whether or not he knows how to apply it.
As for Wild Dog and Artemis, they’re both more enigmatic for now — though we have at least seen the latter pretend to be the Black Canary in the past.
