‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 3 premiere reaction: Breakups and a mystery death
Are Connor and Oliver no more on “How to Get Away with Murder“? We do think the season 4 premiere on Thursday night forced you to ponder that question, since it certainly doesn’t look good for the pair.
Of course, it looks even worse at present for one other important character on the series, as the closing minutes of the episode made it clear that someone will not be surviving the course of this season. Their body is pulled out of the fire, and their identity for now is a mystery.
When will you find out? Well, executive producer Pete Nowalk tells Entertainment Weekly that this is a mystery that is going to slowly and surely unfold over time:
“Every episode, we will reveal one more character on the night of the house fire that’s alive … So every week, basically we’re crossing a character off the list in terms of if you’re playing bingo at home, you can cross one of your favorite characters off, or you have to wait for a few weeks.”
As of right now, it’s hard to really rule out any particular character given that this show has given zero you-know-whats about keeping people alive so far, so other than Annalise, we’re considering almost everyone in danger.
Creatively, we do think that this particular mystery is smart — it ensures that fans will want to watch the show live, and it is something they can speculate about over the course of the entire fall. They’ll hunt for clues, and discuss the twist online. Maybe generating conversation wasn’t the intention, but that still happened nonetheless.
