‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13, episode 1 video: April talks with Catherine Avery

The thirteenth season of “Grey’s Anatomy” is going to be premiering come Thursday, and just as you would expect, there are going to be a number of big events that the show is going to be getting through. This includes giving us an opportunity to see how April is recovering after welcoming her child with Jackson — and a particularly awkward moment with Catherine Avery to boot.

In the sneak peek below, you can see April have one of her first conversations with Jackson’s mother since becoming a mom herself, and almost all of it eventually becomes geared around one subject more than anything else: The child’s name. You really get the sense that Catherine is hoping the child is named after her, but April makes one thing rather abundantly clear: She feels like there can only be one Catherine in the world, and that is probably true when you’re factoring in her big personality.

We imagine that we’ll learn a little bit more about April’s early days with the child over the first few episodes, and that probably also includes whether there is a chance her and Jackson can work through some of their issues and get their relationship back somewhere close to where it once was. At the very least, we do at least know that they will be in a better place than they were during most of season 12, though that may not mean much since they spent a good chunk of that season really at each other’s throats.
