‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: What (and who) motivates Oliver Queen in premiere
When the fifth season of “Arrow” premieres on The CW come Wednesday, October 5, it will be with an episode entitled “Legacy” that is really all about just that. We’re going to have a chance to see one Oliver Queen struggle to figure out precisely who he is in the wake of all that has happened to him, and also how he figures out the right way to balance his new life. With him now the Mayor of Star City, he has more challenges than ever before — and he’s going to need some help.
So what, and who, ultimately inspires Oliver to form some sort of super-team? You can get a little more evidence of that by checking out the synopsis for this hour below:
“After Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) death and the departures of both Diggle (David Ramsey) and Thea (Willa Holland) from Team Arrow, Oliver (Stephen Amell) takes to the streets solo to protect Star City’s citizens as the Green Arrow. With Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) guiding him from the bunker, Oliver is forced to deal with a city that has become overrun with both criminals and a slew of new (and painfully inexperienced) vigilantes. Watching Oliver try to balance his jobs as both the mayor and also the protector of Star City, Felicity suggests he form a new team, but Oliver resists. However, when a deadly new criminal, Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman), enters the picture, Oliver realizes the best thing for the city might be a new team of superheroes. Meanwhile, the flashbacks take us to Russia where Oliver faces off against the Bratva.”
Some of the new vigilantes we’re going to see surface in Star City early on this time around include Wild Dog and Artemis a.k.a. Evelyn Sharp, a young woman who we saw briefly during season 4 after she pretended for some time to take on the Black Canary mantle. This premiere will give some of these newcomers a chance to forge their identity, while at the same time Oliver works to cement his own.
