‘The Last Ship’ season 3 finale video: Chandler, Allison Shaw face off

There are many different things to enjoy about “The Last Ship” season 3, but one of the biggest ones comes courtesy of its adversary. Sure, we had someone like Peng earlier in the season who proved to be dangerous on a number of levels, but some of the most exciting adversaries are the ones who are more political and strategic threats. That is, at the moment, the way we see Allison Shaw. She is powerful, manipulative, and at the moment determined to preserve her version of the future — one that conflicts directly with the one that Tom Chandler holds.

The video below for Sunday’s finale makes it all the clearer that there will be some sort of larger showdown between these two characters, and at one point Shaw is going to have the upper hand on Chandler. She can bring him wherever she wants, and then use her people to destroy him.

Yet, we’ve got confidence that things will not work out precisely as she has planned for a number of reasons.

1. Chandler’s the hero of this story. Who in the world is going to want to see the hero go out in this sort of way?

2. The series was recently renewed all the way through season 5, which certainly means that it’s not going anywhere in the near future. Ultimately, you can just think of this battle as a stepping stone to another conflict coming down the line. Given that “The Last Ship” is a show with a capacity for cliffhangers, we have to assume that one is coming.
