‘Talking Dead’ spoilers: Surprise cast member joining Chris Hardwick live

For the first two weeks of this season, “Talking Dead” took a slightly different approach following “Fear the Walking Dead.” Since host Chris Hardwick was on his honeymoon with Lydia Hearst, the first installments of the second half were pre-taped.

Tonight, the show is going back to its normal format, and they are doing this with an episode currently shrouded in mystery. Typically before an episode airs, we get at least some sense as to what is going to be coming up. That’s not really the case here. AMC hasn’t announced anything other than that a “surprise cast member” is going to be making an appearance tonight.

Who could that be? Well, we know that Alycia Debnam-Carey is going to have a big role in the story tonight, though it’s also possible we could be seeing a lot of Mercedes Mason, as well. Lorenzo Henrie and Cliff Curtis are also involved as we’re going to see our first substantial chunk of these characters in the second half of the season, so all should serve as strong candidates.

In the end, though, the biggest thing to remember with these “surprise cast members” is that seeing them kept under such a heavy veil of secrecy does not necessarily mean that they are going to be dead. Instead, it may just mean that something really crazy happens to them, and the last thing the series is going to want to do is spoil that in any major way in advance.
