‘Saturday Night Live’s’ Leslie Jones returns to Twitter (and we celebrate)
Great news for everyone out there who loves Leslie Jones: After an absence following a terrible terrible hack of her website (and subsequent leaking of personal information), the “Saturday Night Live” star is back up and running on social media!
Some of the first tweets she created over this Labor Day Weekend were some fun-but-silly commentary on “Golden Girls,” and then also a profession of love for “Vice Principals,” an HBO series almost everyone out there really should love from the vantage point of pure belly laughs.
Eventually, she did send out a thank-you to everyone for their support, saying that she “will always be funny” and isn’t going to let anything get in her way on conquering obstacles. Her life story is a pretty big indicator of that, given that she didn’t find success until later in life and wasn’t even a featured player on “SNL” when he delivered her first “Weekend Update” appearance. What happened, though, was that her segment became so popular that she received said promotion, and has since gone on to do a variety of other sketches. Her summer, before the terribleness of the hack, was full of big events: She starred in the new “Ghostbusters” movie, and then also was a key player in NBC’s coverage of her Olympics thanks largely to her amazing tweets on the subject.
The season premiere of “SNL” is coming up a little bit later this fall. While there is no official word as of yet as to who is going to host the premiere, we’ve certainly made our own thoughts on who should be given a chance in this article from earlier this summer.
