‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 18 spoilers: First details on premiere episode

Law & Order: SVU logoIf you have found yourself waiting for some time to get some further information regarding the “Law & Order: SVU” season 18 premiere, the time for waiting is at an end! NBC today released their first synopsis for the September 21 premiere entitled “Terrorized,” and even before getting into anything else, the title for this episode is different from so many others. This is the first time since season 12 that an episode has a single-word title; for much of the Warren Leight era, we had titles with two words.

Since we have a feeling that not everyone cares about titles as much as we do, let’s just go ahead and share the synopsis for this one below:

“A young boy is found wandering alone in Central Park and the search for his parents leads to startling evidence of a planned mass casualty event in the city.  As the SVU works with the joint-terrorism task force to find the suspects and the motive, Lt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) must also convince Barba (Raúl Esparza) to address allegations of rape and torture the boy’s mother discloses.”

Ultimately, this episode feels like precisely what you would want from a premiere of “SVU.” You have a case that unravels into something far deeper than it appears on the surface, and you also have some conflict that comes out of a surprising place. Barba and Benson often are fighting for the same things, but they have differences in method and we do think that this does lead to conflict at some points here and there.

Rest assured, this is far from the end of our “SVU” previews; we will have more on the premiere in due time.
