Will a ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ star ever become ‘The Bachelor’?
We’re right in the thick of campaign season at the moment for “The Bachelor,” and there are two names in particular we are hearing discussed more so than just about any other: Luke Pell and Chase McNary. Both were seen as incredibly respectable, likable guys on “The Bachelorette” this past season, and in theory both would be great stars for a future season as the lead.
Are there any other contenders moving into the big announce, and should there be? Well, it’s interesting when you look at “Bachelor in Paradise” since you have people on that show like Nick Viall and Jared Haibon who are very well-liked, and you have to wonder what the public support would be for them at this point. Sure, Nick was at one point considered a villain by many, but we do think his reputation has changed. He’s a little more humble, more likable, and if either he or Jared end this show single, you have to wonder … at least in theory.
The reality here is that the odds of someone from “Paradise” being chosen for “The Bachelor” are astronomical, largely for one simple reason: The illusion is gone. Much of being the lead is about creating this ideal that you are almost this perfect guy who any person would want to be with. Only rarely, as in with Juan Pablo Galavis, do we see the show make a real effort at times to bury its lead in the edit. Once you’ve stripped things down to reality, some of the fantasy is gone.
Also, the show likes reasonably-fresh faces for the most part in that there’s so much more to learn about them. Sure, you knew a Ben Higgins or Chris Soules before their seasons, but only so much given that they were in competition with so many other people still.
