‘Guilt’ season 2: What are renewal odds for Freeform series?
On Monday night’s finale of “Guilt,” there could be some answers to questions that have plagued the characters on the series from the start. With that said, at the same time you could also end up seeing some other questions raised that last into the future.
So will we have a chance to see some further answers down the road? We do like to be the perpetual optimist on the site given that the last thing we ever want to do is root for a show to fail. There are some people who work incredibly hard to make these series happen, and the end of the show means that everyone has to go out and look for some other work.
Unfortunately, at the moment we’re not altogether optimistic about the future when we look at the live+same day ratings, which are traditionally the measure that means the most in terms of cementing a show’s future on the air. As of right now, “Guilt” season 1 is averaging just over a 0.1 rating, which is the sort of rating that very rarely, if ever, leads to a show being renewed for more down the road. Compare this to its lead-in in “The Fosters,” which is averaging a 0.4 rating at present. You can argue that there were extenuating circumstances that made getting higher ratings a challenge, such as airing against the Olympics the past couple of weeks or competition from “The Bachelorette” / “Bachelor in Paradise,” but in the end there is only so much networks can look at such things when the bottom line matters the most.
Hopefully, we’ll have a little more clarity on the series’ future over the course of the coming days. Stay tuned…
