TV Friendships: What ‘Supergirl’ season 2 could do with Kara, Winn
The second season of “Supergirl” is coming up this fall on The CW, and while there were at one point many a person out there ‘shipping Kara and Winn Schott (trust us, we were one of them), at the same time it feels almost like the writers are going in a different direction. Kara and James seem to be the couple the show is running with, though the other two still remain friends. (Winn may still need a little bit of pep-talking to make him feel better about dating the Silver Banshee.)
So how could we see this friendship evolve moving forward? That is something we’re interested in trying to spotlight now.
Where we left off – Kara and Winn were on seemingly good terms and everyone was, at least for a short time, reasonably happy. Non and Indigo were defeated, and Kara had made the choice to pursue things further with James. At that point, it didn’t feel like Winn was extremely upset over it, which is why we’re starting to think that the writers may be moving some of his feelings towards her into the past.
Where they could go from here – While we certainly wouldn’t be made if the show brought back Winn’s feelings, we’ve got Shiptober coming up in a couple of months to talk about romance. On more of a friendship level, we would like to see Winn open up more about his family and his past beyond his father, and use Kara to help become all the more confident in what he does. Also, how about him being there for Kara without some of the romantic undertones? This is a relationship that was already present in the pilot, so learning more about how their friendship came to be could be fun — plus, it’d give us another opportunity to see Cat Grant, given that the show may be shying away from using her as much during season 2.
