‘Saturday Night Live’ season 42: When could premiere host be announced?

SNL -The past few weeks have been notable when it comes to “Saturday Night Live” departures (losing Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah at the same time is a tough pill to swallow), it feels like this could be the right time for some good news to creep in when it comes to one subject: Who is hosting the season 42 premiere of the show.

Who could it be? It does feel like there are a lot of different directions that the show could go in, given that you’ve got movie stars who have had a big summer, and then there are also notable alumni like a Kristen Wiig or a Bill Hader who would be really great in this spot. Also, we wouldn’t be shocked if you brought back someone like Bruno Mars to host again given how strong he was the first time around. Can we throw Dwayne Johnson out there as a possibility? his show in season 40 and Larry David’s in 41 are two of the best ones in recent memory.

As for when said announcement could come, we may be a matter of just a couple of weeks away! Back before season 40, it was announced on September 10 that Chris Pratt was going to be hosting the premiere; meanwhile, it was September 1 when NBC announced before last season that Miley Cyrus would host and be the musical guest for that premiere. The show likes to put the announcement out there early enough so that there is some time to build up hype, and at the same time, they also will probably announce some of the other hosts in the weeks to follow.
