‘Criminal Minds’ season 12: Thomas Gibson joins Twitter, thanks fans following firing

The Storm -

For his next move following his abrupt exit from “Criminal Minds,” Thomas Gibson is … joining Twitter? As odd as it may be, it does actually make a little more sense when you think about it. At a time in which there is so much being said about him and his actions, he can fully control the narrative rather than let others do it for him.

If you look below, you can see the actor’s first few tweets, which are of course all about thanking his fans and the disappointment he feels over what happened with the show. He also made it clear that he loves “Criminal Minds,” which should be another reminder that he appreciates everyone who watched it over the years.

So what is next for Gibson in terms of his television career? For now, that’s what we still have to wait and see. We of course imagine that he will be back with some sort of project eventually, whether it be a traditional series or something through a streaming provider. With the resume that he has, we’d be shocked to not see him around at some point.

For the sake of “Criminal Minds,” we just hope that the series is going to be able to construct a way to move forward that still makes sense to the end product. Remember for a minute that Gibson will appear in the first two episodes of the season, and from here the producers have to create a massive curveball to write him out in a way that makes sense. The hard thing about Hotch as a character is that he is not one to abandon his team. Therefore, we envision it being a challenge to find the right end to his story that makes sense other than the character dying. Then again, if the show does that, then you are all but guaranteeing that he will never turn up again. We don’t envy the spot the writers are in at present.
