Could Joss Whedon direct ‘Supergirl’ – ‘The Flash’ musical crossover?
While we don’t always choose to write about rumors floating around the internet, this latest one is interesting for us for a pair of different reasons:
- The original source does have some credibility these days.
- It would be incredibly awesome if it actually happens.
Anyway, the folks over at That Hashtag Show, who were previously responsible for being the first to announce the Finn Jones casting for “Iron Fist,” are reporting that none other than Joss Whedon will be the director for the upcoming “Supergirl” – “The Flash” musical event that was first announced at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.
Does this make sense? Absolutely, and for a number of reasons starting with the fact that Whedon isn’t so locked in to Marvel anymore and there doesn’t seem to be anything that could technically stop him from doing this. Also, it’d be fantastic because of Whedon’s involvement in so many other great musicals before now, whether it be the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” episode “Once More, with Feeling” or “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.” If anyone knows the genre mixed with a little bit of science fiction, it’s him.
Finally, the site claims that the Music Meister, a character ironically introduced for the sole purpose of being musical, could be the villain. This character was voiced via Neil Patrick Harris in “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” and Harris was also … Dr. Horrible. There’s no evidence of him actually appearing for now, though, so don’t get your hopes up on that.
