‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 7, episode 7 review: Aria and Ezra’s elopement snag; Toby’s future
On Tuesday night’s new episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” we saw one fan-favorite couple plan their future. Meanwhile, another seemed to fall even further by the wayside.
Let’s begin here with Aria and Ezra, mostly because for the most part we consider them to be at the center of much happier news: They’re considering an elopement! He brought up the idea of the two of them going to Tuscany, and after Aria at first hesitated, the other Liars convinced her to go through with it, feeling as though it would mark an opportunity to have some sort of peace. That’s rare in this world.
Well, that peace may have been interrupted by the FBI arriving at his door and proclaiming that Nicole may actually still be alive. Don’t you think that puts a snag in those wedding plans?
Meanwhile, Spencer learned that Toby was planning to take off to Maine with Yvotte and start a new life, and we certainly don’t blame him given how much terribleness has befallen him in this town. This marked a chance for his own peace, and for now, he may have it.
If you’re looking for chaos, the episode brought that courtesy of what Spencer, Hanna, Ali, and Emily were doing at the end of the episode, as they found themselves front and center for some car-bomb trickery after doing some investigating in the cellar. Through this, they did learn that Mary Drake had another child, someone who could instantly be a suspect. It’s a strong twist, and it gives these final episodes momentum. The same goes for the tense state of things with Jason and Mary, and the burned-up file of Noel in the closing minutes. While this show still talks in circles far too much, we do think this episode was straightforward and shocking enough to have us excited for what is next. Grade: B+.
