‘The X-Files’ season 11: David Duchovny opens up on plans

X Files -Earlier this week while at TCA, Fox made it clear that they would like to have more of “The X-Files” at some point in the future, and they are talking to David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson about doing another 8-10 episodes. This works well with what we’d heard Duchovny say previously about wanting to do more than the six episodes that were front and center for season 6, but also less than he used to do for the show.

Well, a new post on Twitter in honor of Gillian Anderson’s birthday makes it more than clear that David is planning to do more of the show at some point in the near future, and we have to think that she’d also be game for it if her schedule allows for it. (Interestingly, David and Gillian’s birthdays are incredibly close to each other — she recently also wished a happy birthday to him.)

Our hope is that all parties could have something figured out by the end of the year in terms of there being another season, and for filming on that to take place at some point next year. We don’t think there’s much of a chance for it to air before the end of the 2016-17 season, but wouldn’t this be a perfect addition to the fall schedule next year? You could air in through September and early October, take a brief break for Fox’s baseball coverage, and then come back after the World Series to finish it off.

Ultimately, we’ll have more as soon as there is more to report. One way or another, we do feel confident that we will be seeing more of Mulder and Scully in the future.
