‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: David Anders returning as Dr. Whale

Once Upon A TimeWhile David Anders may be a rather busy man thanks to his participation over on “iZombie,” we are very much pleased that he will continue to be a part of “Once Upon a Time” season 6 in some capacity. After all, we assume that it helps that the two sets are so closely located, and he can pop over to this show when called upon.

According to a report coming in now via Entertainment Weekly, the actor will be returning in the role of Dr. Frankenstein a.k.a. Dr. Whale for an upcoming season 6 episode, and while not all details are clear right now, show creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis were at least kind enough to offer a small tease to the website:

Kitsis – “If you’re going to have Jekyll [Hank Harris] and Hyde [Sam Witwer], there has to be a mad scientist convention.”

Horowitz – “Let’s just say mad scientists stick together.”

In some ways, you could consider this casting almost a perfect example of bringing back a character who seems like an organic fit to this particular story. Given the world in which Frankenstein comes from, it makes sense that Dr. Whale would be familiar with Jekyll and Hyde. They do also share tendencies in a way few other characters on this show do. How they interact could in turn to us learning more about this world as a whole, and how many of these people function within it and bring other characters over.

Ultimately, we figure that so long as we’re getting more of Anders on this particular show, we’re going to be rather pleased.
