‘The Walking Dead’ season 7: Show may not create similar cliffhanger in finale

twdIn looking back at the sixth season of “The Walking Dead,” it may be the most polarizing one that the AMC show has produced to date, and for one simple reason: Games. First, there was the fake-out with Glenn that left him stuck under a dumpster for a few episodes (we’re being metaphorical, of course), and then there was the cliffhanger to something most viewers were expecting to see in the finale. It ultimately feels to us that everyone would have kept watching had they just revealed who Negan killed; instead, all the mystery did was leave many fans confused and angry.

So in response to that, it’s certainly possible that the series could opt to do something different moving forward. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, comic creator Robert Kirkman makes it clear that he has taken stock in the comments from various fans, and that may be prioritized in creating the ending to season 7:

“I think as a creative person I have to acknowledge that all responses are valid, so I definitely have to take note that there’s a seemingly significant portion of the audience that wasn’t happy with that direction, so in that respect I think everyone on The Walking Dead creative team has taken note of that, and I don’t know that I would expect a similar cliffhanger at the end of season 7.”

Kirkman did add that there are many fans who may have been fine with the ending to the season, and we also believe him. Obviously, the reality here is that you’re not going to create an ending to a finale that everyone is happy with. There are just too many people and too many opinions out there! As a result of that, the best thing that you can hope for is something that quiets some of the anger. It’s okay to frustrate with a cliffhanger, but it shouldn’t be frustration born out of an unnecessarily choice like the one we had here.
