‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2 spoilers: ‘iZombie’ alum joins the Justice Society of America
The moment that the words “Justice Society of America” were uttered during the season 1 finale of “Legends of Tomorrow,” there was a reason to get excited. This group is one of the closest things that we’ve had to a unified Justice League within the universe on The CW, and many of these characters just so happen to be people we haven’t seen much of on TV to date. That includes Hourman (Patrick J. Adams), who was introduced in the tail end of the last episode.
Now, we can tell you a thing or two more about Commander Steel! Per Entertainment Weekly, “iZombie” actor Matthew MacCaull has been tapped to play this character, whose alter ego is Dr. Henry Heywood. This character is the grandfather of Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), who carries with him the name Citizen Steel. It should be interesting to see how the bond between them ends up playing a role in the story moving forward.
Some other confirmed members of the JSA beyond Commander Steel and Hourman include Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Dr. Mid-Nite, Obsidian, and Stargirl. Several of these characters still need to be cast.
One of the larger remaining mysteries now is whether or not Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) has any sort of role in all of this, given that he was a member of the group in several comic series, and if it turns out that this is a group of heroes from Earth-3, it would make more sense as to why the Legends have never heard of them.
