‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Luke Pell’s family meets JoJo Fletcher

We have heard about hometown dates on “The Bachelorette” that were large, but even when looking back over some of them, the one featuring Luke Pell for Monday night’s new episode of the show still feels massive. You can certainly say that this guy has a ton of support from his hometown in Texas, since it looks like there are dozens of people in his backyard in the sneak peek below.

The first impression we have about this is that it’s pretty cool. After all, you never will feel lonely! It shows the tight-knit nature of Luke’s hometown, and it gives him yet another thing about his story that makes him standout beyond just being a country boy and military veteran. (Maybe these don’t matter much for this season, but they do aid his Bachelor cause in a pretty big way.)

The second impression we had about this is that it could be pretty darn intimidating to JoJo Fletcher, and that is something that she also brings up. While we do think she’s thrilled to have a chance to meet everyone, it’s rather overwhelming to have to do it all at once and be able to sell yourself in front of so many strangers. It’d be like going on a fourth or fifth date with someone to a wedding, where everyone is ready to meet you and ask you a billion questions. Ideally, you want a chance to do it in small groups, but that’s not as conducive to great TV for this show.

Will this cause Luke to not get a rose? Probably not, since it seems rather weird to penalize him based on that. If he doesn’t move on to the overnight dates, there may be another reason for it.
