Ratings: ‘America’s Got Talent’ defeats MLB All-Star Game; ‘Zoo’ season 2 steady
Clearly, the MLB All-Star Game met its match this year, and it just so happened to be singers, magicians, comedians, and a pair of jugglers knocking Howie Mandel into a dunk tank.
The latest episode of “America’s Got Talent” ended up winning the night with a very respectable 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, something that the folks over at NBC are probably at least relatively satisfied with. After all, you just have to consider some of the circumstances for the moment here, including that the auditions are over and that there was baseball on another network. Given that ratings are harder to maintain over time in a season (it’s not as much a watch-at-your-leisure experience when some of the acts have trajectory), this is still a good performance.
For those wondering, the preliminary primetime numbers for the All-Star Game have it at a 2.0, which is one of the lowest prelims for the game to date.
Elsewhere, there was a whole lotta steady going on. “Zoo” maintained last week’s 0.8 rating, hardly a great number but at the same time it’s better than most of CBS’ original scripted concept this summer. With “BrainDead” being almost dead on arrival and with “American Gothic” drawing ho-hum numbers, they may need to rethink how they want to program during this time of year.
Elsewhere, “Maya & Marty” held on to its 1.0 rating for its season finale. We know these numbers are not amazing, but we do hope the show comes back for more.
