‘Outcast’ episode 6 preview: Anderson’s great test
There are many things to say about “Outcast” as a series. It’s gripping, it’s terrifying, and it has mighty strong characters for being only five episodes in. Also, it has really boss episode titles like you wouldn’t believe. “From the Shadows It Watches,” for example, is the title for the next new one. Sound creepy to anyone else?
Cinemax unfortunately is not one to release many details about episodes in advance, hence the short synopsis below. Yet, you may find it intriguing in the vaguest of terms:
“Rev. Anderson (Philip Glenister) finds his powers sorely tested; Patricia (Melinda McGraw) reaches out to Kyle (Patrick Fugit); Sidney (Brent Spiner) delivers a warning.”
On the surface, Sidney’s warning feels the most ominous of any of these. With that said, we say that solely from the vantage point of what is apparent so far, and that is the basic essence of this character: A mysterious, very-creepy dude sans great intentions.
Overall, the only thing we can hope for next week is more compelling TV. This is about the halfway point in the season, and there is plenty of story left to tell.
Update: The promo below is now included, and for Kyle, the spread of darkness may mean temporarily one thing: Him trying to put his head in the sand. In turn, this may be why Patricia is reaching out to him in the first place! He has skills to resolve these crises, but is it too much of a cross for a single man to bear?
