‘Shameless’ season 7: Emmy Rossum set to direct
The seventh season of “Shameless” is going to be coming to Showtime at a much earlier time than usual (as in, you’ll get it before the new year), and there is also one other surprise to go along with this: You’re going to see Emmy Rossum behind the camera as a director!
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Rossum (best known for playing Fiona on the Showtime series) is going to be stepping into this role for the upcoming fourth episode of the upcoming season. This will be a chance for her to flex some new muscles, while at the same time we have more or less the same hopes for many of the characters on the show, especially when it comes to the leading lady. While it’s not confirmed what producers are doing with her, we do hope that this is the year someone decides that it will be better off making Fiona single than throwing her into yet another relationship.
For the time being, Rossum’s episode is supposedly set to air on Sunday, October 23.
This is not the first time that a “Shameless” cast member has stepped behind the camera, as Rossum’s co-star William H. Macy has also directed an episode of the show. Even away from work she probably has many opportunities to discuss the craft; she is engaged to “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail, who is famously directing every episode of that show’s upcoming second season premiering next week.
